Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970 and are one of the most commercially successful musical acts of all time. Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar. Because of the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964 the family moved to England. In 1970 Freddie Mercury (vocalist), Brian May (guitarist), John Deacon (bass guitar) and Roger Taylor (drummer) formed the band “Queen”.

Freddie Mercury composed many hits such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Barcelona" and "We Are the Champions". By 2009 Queen had sold more than 300 million albums internationally. 

Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987. He died in 1991 at the age of 45.
